Congratulations to Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban, who ushered into the world a daughter called Sunday. And “nanny nanny poo poo” to Scientologists; it’s now heavily speculated the name Sunday is in fact a stab at the “religion”.

Kidman was a Catholic but became a Scientologist when her insane gnome ex-husband Tom Cruise went wacky for the oddball cult. Now she’s free of both Cruise and Scientology, and has allegedly returned to her Catholic roots with the naming of her baby.

MSNBC is trying to convince us:
“Nicole is a Catholic, and Sunday was an important religious day for her until she was involved in Scientology. […] She’s still bitter about her experience with Scientology and the fact her baby’s name could be perceived as one last jab doesn’t exactly upset her.”

First the baby’s subjected to Keith Urban tunes during Nicole’s labor. Then the baby has to deal with Nashville as a birthplace – when her parents are from Australia and New Zealand, respectively. Now she has to bear the label of Weapon of Mass Annoyance to the Scientology religion?

It could all be a coincidence. The child, full name Sunday Rose, could simply be a pawn in the game of gossip – not a genuine war between Kidman and her ex-Church. The key phrase in MSNBC’s quote – the phrase everyone is overlooking – is that Nicole isn’t upset over the perception of her daughter’s name as a jab at Scientology.

Regardless, we wish Sunday good health and good luck as she lives a very public life, through no fault of her own. We’re sure Nicole will make a great mom…after all, Sunday isn’t her first child. We hope that Sunday will keep Keith sufficiently busy that he stays away from both substance abuse and making music.

And we hope Scientology just leaves the whole affair alone. They have Suri – what else do they need?
