Buzz Bites: American Idol, Daniel Radcliffe, National Poetry Month

April 10th, 2008 · 1 Comment

americanidol.jpgIdol Gave Back last night, but gave the presidential candidates the boot. Though it might seem a little snippy to say the special was overly long—it was for charity, after all—the special was overly long. But at least they cut the presidential candidates taped appeals and bumped those for another time. Watching Miley Cyrus banter with Billy Crystal was bad enough, hearing Hillary and Barack passive-aggressively knock each other under the guise of a charity appeal would have been icing on a very stale cake.

radcliffe.jpgHarry Potter’s Magic Wand: Daniel Radcliffe, the teen who brought Harry Potter to life, will reprise his role as the screwed-up stable boy in a production of Equus on Broadway later this year. He played the role in London and got rave reviews, proving that he’s not a one-shot wonder and he really can act beyond casting spells and fighting an evil sorcerer. In the production, he appears in the buff, full frontal even (did you just hear legions of fangirls squeal?) and that has been hailed as a great way to avoid being typecast in Potter-like roles for the rest of his life. We tend to think playing a character who blinded six horses with a spike probably does a better job of stretching his acting chops than showing his bare bits on stage.

April is National Poetry Month. And we’re all for culture. But this is a celebrity blog. Something about oil and water not mixing. . . . But we’re going to try it.

Jay-Z and Beyonce tied the knot.
On the cover of GQ, Cameron Diaz is lookin’ hot.
Toni Braxton’s having pains in her chest
The polls say that David Archuleta is the best.
Mary-Louise Parker decided not to say “I do.”
George Clooney’s Brangelina’s baby’s godfather? So not true.

Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz? Engaged.
Tom Cruise on his namesake purple pot? Enraged.
Britney’s run on a sitcom, the people liked a lot.
Bobby Brown wrote a book all about the truth
And we believe him. Not.

i, for one, am not looking forward to all of my friends who are girls raving about this and how they won’t get to see.
